meet our pastor
Jim Tom became a Christian in 1997 and, just three months later, felt God’s call into ministry. He was licensed as a Southern Baptist minister in 1999 and ordained in 2000. In March 2003, he was called as pastor to Temple Baptist Church, where he has faithfully served ever since. He holds a diploma in Christian Ministry, an associate’s degree in Divinity, a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and a master’s degree in Christian Studies — all from Union University.
Jim Tom has been married to his wife, Heather, since 1993. Together, they have three sons and four grandchildren, with one more expected in September of this year.
He has a deep passion for investing in the next generation of believers, knowing how important they are to the future of the church. Having been part of this community since the age of 29, he feels a strong sense of urgency to follow God’s calling by encouraging and equipping young believers to grow in their faith.
Jim Tom is committed to preaching biblically sound, practical messages that help people apply God’s Word to their everyday lives. He also has a heart for both local and global missions, longing to see lives changed by the gospel near and far.
Beyond the pulpit, Jim Tom strives to add value to people of all ages, building meaningful relationships and encouraging spiritual growth. He’s also active in various community roles, doing his best to make a difference beyond the church walls. Whether through prayer, mentoring, or simply being present, his desire is to reflect Christ’s love in every interaction.

Sunday school classes
Our Sunday School classes meet at 10:00 AM and are for all ages, from children to adults. These classes are designed to explore real-life topics through the lens of the Bible in a casual and welcoming setting. Nursery is provided for your youngest family members.
WEekly Worship
We hold a weekly Worship Service every Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. Join us to hear messages preached from God’s Word that point to the truth of the Gospel while speaking to the struggles of everyday life. Our services feature a blend of traditional and contemporary music that creates an atmosphere of meaningful worship for all generations. Nursery care is also provided during worship so parents can fully engage.
Small Groups
On Wednesday nights at 6 PM, we offer discipleship-focused Bible studies for all ages, with nursery provided for your youngest family members. This is a time to grow in community and in the study of God’s Word — a place where you can ask questions, wrestle with faith, and explore truth in a welcoming environment, whether you’re a believer or still seeking.

At TBC, we believe Jesus offers hope, purpose, and real life for everyone — whether you’ve been walking with Him for years, you’ve got questions, or you’re just trying to figure things out. We believe the Bible is God’s Word, meant to guide us and show us truth. We believe in one true God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — who knows us, loves us, and invites us into a relationship with Him.
Jesus came to meet us right where we are, offering forgiveness, grace, and a fresh start to anyone who will trust Him. The Holy Spirit helps us grow, learn, and live out our faith in everyday life.
At TBC, we’re just real people trying to live out what we believe — loving God, loving others, and making a difference in our community and beyond. We come together to worship, to study, to ask honest questions, and to support each other through all of life’s ups and downs. We celebrate with baptism, remember Jesus through the Lord’s Supper, and make Sunday a day to focus on what really matters.
We believe God’s doing big things locally, across our country, and around the world — and we want to be part of it. If you’re looking for hope, friendship, or just a place to belong, we’d love for you to be part of the journey with us.
